My name is Mackenzie Lampert, and I am a current Senior at Pennsylvania State University. I am majoring in Public Relations with a minor in Journalism and an interest in the sports industry. Growing up in the Philadelphia suburbs, I always was crazy for all things sports related, and my dad definitely helped contribute to that love as well.
I also always had a feeling I would end up at Penn State. My dad was a graduate of Penn State so naturally that Penn State culture was always in my blood since I was born. Growing up I would go to Penn State football games and explore the town of State College. My dad would also tell stories of his time at Penn State, and I became very fond of the school.
Throughout my website you will find some projects I have done in the past that relate to my passion of sports. You can also find what I have been up to with my time so far at Penn State. With a school as big as Penn State, I was able to find multiple opportunities and interests that fit what I was looking for out of my college experience.
With graduation less than a few months away, I aspire to make it into the sports industry in either the NFL or MLB, as those are two of my favorite sports to follow. I know being in the sports industry can be a challenge, but with my intense love and passion for sports, I am up for that challenge.awards for my performances.
Sow Good Now is a local non-profit that aims to inspire kids through sports related giveback events. These events allow the kids to experience a fun environment where they get to learn how to play their favorite sports. In July 2023, I was given the opportunity to attend one of these events. I filmed the day and interviewed members and the kid athletes. After, I put together a video to promote the event.
Although I've had other Public Relations experience through real internships, I wanted to share something that taught me so many skills that are necessary for Public Relations. In one of my Public Relations classes at Penn State, our main project was creating a Press Kit for a local business. I chose The State College Downtown Improvement District. In this Press Kit you will see press release, media release, a brochure, and more that I created for this business. You can find this press kit in the files section.
With my focus being in Public Relations, I knew joining a club like PRSSA would be essential for me. PRSSA (Public Relations Student Society of America) helps connect Public Relations students with professionals. In the 2023-2024 school year I got the opportunity to be on the exec board for this club. I work as the DE&I chair and this year we had a big project on our hands. We created a video to send out to high schools to try and get more diverse people to consider Public Relations as a major, because research showed that many high school students didn't even know what Public Relations is.
In the fall of 2023, I joined The Daily Collegian Marketing Staff. In this position I dived into a lot of fundraising efforts as our budget had been cut in half this year and would be 100% cut the following school year. I did social media posts, with specifically revamping the TikTok page. I also did tabling events to get students to sign up for one of our sponsors "Spotlight News". Finally, I helped create a new landing page to get donors for The Daily Collegian.
